Hi.

I’m Emily.

I grew up in rural Nebraska, which is something like what you might imagine: dirt roads, county fairs, family farms and an all-encompassing love of Husker football.

After five years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I left campus in favor of a full-time job offer and the option of finishing the last bit of my degree online. I now work as an overnight producer at The Washington Post.

After five years of internships (and no benefits), the health insurance has been a welcome change.

Prior to starting full-time, I was a summer Web producer intern at the Post, working mostly with the World and Business sections. Before that, I worked as a campus bureau chief for ABC News On Campus and interned as a copy editor at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Lincoln Journal Star. I got my start at UNL’s independent student news organization, the Daily Nebraskan.

I’m an avid supporter of American Copy Editors Society (especially UNL’s chapter) and the Online News Association.
